Animal Assisted Psychotherapy
Animal Assisted Psychotherapy (AAPT) has been shown to have positive outcomes in the overall improvement of emotional regulation in people on the Autism Spectrum, and people with medical conditions, behavioural challenges, and psychological health.
When we are in close proximity to animals, our physiological and emotional wellbeing is enhanced. Our pets offer us companionship and comfort, and they can also compliment therapy by assisting in the development of who we are, building resilient relationships and mindfulness.
Whether it is working outside with a pony to build skills to cope with bullying, observing chickens to gain understanding about relationships, or stroking a cat while discussing something challenging, AAPT is effective and a popular therapy offering in our program.
